Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., gave a speech at Auto Shanghai 2011, commenting on how China is maintaining positive momentum as the world's largest automobile market and on how Honda's sales also have been growing steadily. To further accelerate the company's growth, Honda will expand production capacity at Guangqi Honda and build a second plant at Dongfeng Honda. Themed "Mobility for the Earth, the Honda exhibit at Shanghai auto show features a range of advanced environmental technologies. The first Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system featuring a lithium-ion battery makes its world premiere, while the Fit EV Concept battery electric vehicle and Honda's next-generation plug-in hybrid platform further demonstrate Honda's approach to environmentally responsible mobility. Honda is also displaying its two dedicated hybrid vehicles, the Insight and the CR-Z, which it plans to launch in China in 2012.
