Das optische Update, der Mercedes E-Klasse ist so tiefgreifend, dass man das Cabrio fuer ein voellig neues Auto halten koennte. Die weit nach hinten gezogenen Frontscheibe ist typisch fuer das neue E-Klasse Cabrio und sorgt dafuer, dass die Passagiere auch bei hoeheren Geschwindigkeiten vom Fahrtwind recht unbeeindruckt bleiben. Ist das Windschott und die Seitenscheiben oben, entsteht mit Hilfe einer Art Foen namens Airscarf , was im deutschen "Luftschal" heisst, ein regelrechter Warmluftsee. Doch nicht nur in Sachen Komfort kann das E-Klasse Cabrio punkten, auch in punkto Sicherheit legt Mercedes vor: Serienmaessig an Bord sind neun Airbags und die radargestuetzter Abstands- und Kollisionswarnung sowie der Attention-Assist. Weitere Helferlein wie Spurhalteassistent, Lenk- und Totwinkelassistent, Abstandstempomat und den Brems-Assistent gibt es Gegen Aufpreis. Bei den Motoren sollte fuer jeden etwas Passendes dabei sein. Vom Vierzylinder bis hin zum kernigen V8 ist alles dabei. Das Leistungsspektrum reicht von 177 bis 408 PS. Der 350 CDI ist der Top-Diesel. Mit dem Facelift bekommt das E-Klasse Cabrio ein frisches, dynamisch geschaerftes Design.

Auf den Etappen der diesjaehrigen Mille Miglia hat der Himmel zeitweise zwar alle seine Schleusen geoeffnet und stellte an die Fahrer noch groessere Anforderungen als sonst, um ihre wertvollen Oldtimer nach rund 1.600 Kilometern wohlbehalten in Brescia wieder ins Ziel zu bringen. Der Stimmung sowohl bei den Teilnehmern als auch den zahllosen Zuschauern tat dies jedoch keinen Abbruch. Gut geschuetzt von Regenschirmen, stehen die eingefleischten Oldtimer-Fans, von denen viele aus zahlreichen Laendern nach Italien gereist sind, aber auch diejenigen, die erst ernsthafte Fans werden wollen, dicht gedraengt an den Strassenraendern, beklatschten die historischen Fahrzeuge - gleichgueltig, ob nun ein Porsche, Mercedes, Bentley, Jaguar, BMW, VW oder Bugatti an ihnen vorbeirollte. Aber was war schon die Unannehmlichkeit im stroemenden Regen zu stehen gegen den Anblick der alten wertvollen Rennwagen. Am Ende zaehlte nur dabei gewesen zu sein.

The 4.5 km convoy of supercars is now heading to San Giustino Valdarno and Bologna.

Bentley Motors, Inc. today announces six new Le Mans Limited Edition specifications available on the flagship Mulsanne and the Continental family, exclusively available in North America. Each model is inspired by a driver from Bentley's six victories at the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours race.
From the company's start in 1919, Bentley was remarkably successful in both racing and setting new speed records. Founder W.O. Bentley was a determined supporter of motor racing as a means of establishing the Bentley marque and the company's racing success was achieved through its engineering competence and the skills of a group of drivers known as the "Bentley Boys".
After being the sole British entry and placing fourth in the inaugural 1923 race, Bentley won the Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race in 1924. From 1927 to 1930 Bentley dominated the event and took victory on four consecutive occasions. In 2003, nearly 83 years to the date from its previous victory, Bentley achieved yet another victory, placing first and second, with Guy Smith piloting the first of the two Speed 8's across the finish line.
To celebrate these significant milestones, 48 examples of each 'Le Mans Limited Edition' model are being produced. Each car will have a unique Le Mans Edition numbered badge, Le Mans Edition clock face, embroidered Le Mans badge to each headrest, tread plates with the limited edition name, unique Le Mans Edition wheels and specific interior veneers and exterior colours.
"We're very proud of our motorsports heritage and we're excited to celebrate our historic wins at Le Mans 24 Hours," said Christophe Georges, President and COO, Bentley Motors, Inc. "The Le Mans Limited Edition models showcase our performance and handcrafted luxury through these unique, heritage inspired specifications."

The replacement panels came are OER brand pieces from Classic Industries, and the welding was handled by an HTP MIG 200 welder. The trick is to not be too aggrissive when trimming the old or new pieces to make them fit tightly.

This morning, at 9 a.m. on the dot, the 350 vehicles taking part in the Lamborghini Grand Tour started their engines and set off towards Forte dei Marmi. Leaving the parc ferme in Milan, capital of Italian design, fashion, and finance and starting point of the Grand Tour behind them, the roaring supercars from the House of the Raging Bull set off towards Forte dei Marmi, one of the most exclusive and fashionable resorts on the Tyrrhenian coast and birthplace of the Italian bourgeoisie's luxury vacations of the 1960s.
The convoy covered 270 km, taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Aveto Natural Regional Park and the Trebbia River valley, described by Hemingway as one of the most beautiful in the world, stopping for lunch at the Saint Columbanus Monastery in Bobbio. On reaching their destination, the Lamborghini cavalcade parked up in Forte dei Marmi's "living room" - Piazza Marconi, right in the center of town - to the surprise and admiring glances of residents and holidaymakers who are usually no strangers to seeing powerful cars driving through.

Dabei ist das ein hohes Ziel, war doch sein Vorgaenger in 2012 der meistverkaufte Combi in Europa" gibt sich der Skoda-Vorstandsvorsitzende Prof. Winfried Vahland bei der Vorstellung der dritten Generation des Combi inclusive der Allrad-Version zuversichtlich. Und er hat auch allen Grund dazu. Denn der komplett neu gestaltete Octavia Combi ist nicht nur geräumig und funktional, sondern sieht auch gut aus. Waehrend die Front identisch mit der der Limousine ist, unterscheiden sich die Seitenansicht und das Heck. Die geschlossene Seitengrafik wird durch die hohe Tornadolinie markant betont, die Dachlinie faellt sanft nach hinten ab und die Heckleuchten reichen weit in den seitlichen Heckbereich hinein und schliessen damit direkt an der Tornadolinie an. In der Gesamtansicht ergibt dies eine dynamisch-fliessende Silhouette von der Front-bis zur Heckscheibe. Die Optik bei dem um 9 Zentimeter auf 4,66 Meter gewachsenen Combi stimmt also.

Wie zu erwarten, ist auch das jüngste Produkt der M GmbH, der M6 Gran Coupé, ein Vertreter der edlen und sehr schnellen Sorte. Mit einer Leistung von 560 PS und einem Drehmoment von 680 Newtonmetern sorgt der V8-Biturbo für einen brachialen Schub, der einen fast vergessen lässt, dass man in diesem Gefährt auch durchaus genüsslich, gewissermaßen entschleunigt, durch die Lande cruisen kann. Denn an anspruchsvoller Behaglichkeit mangelt es nun wirklich nicht. Feinstes Leder, beste Verarbeitung, komfortable Bedienbarkeit und aufgrund des gestreckten Radstandes mehr Platz im Fond. Der Viertürer ist also auch etwas für die ganze Familie. Wer es aber krachen lassen will, lässt die Hinterbänkler zu Hause, wählt den Super-Sport-Modus und bedient den 4,4 Liter über Schaltpaddels. Bis Tempo 305 ist der M6 wahrlich kein Spielverderber. Allerdings hat das Vergnügen seinen Preis: gestartet wird bei knapp 129.000 Euro. (news2do.com/lh)

Volkswagen startet 30 Jahre nach seinem Markteintritt in China in eine Phase nachhaltigen Wachstums. Im Zuge des Ausbaus der Fertigungskapazitaeten investieren die beiden chinesischen Joint-Ventures des Volkswagen Konzerns bis 2015 mehr als zwei Drittel von insgesamt 9,8 Milliarden Euro in hocheffiziente Produkte. Der fuer China zustaendige Vorstand der Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft Prof. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, praezisierte am Vortag der Auto Shanghai 2013 die auf den chinesischen Markt zugeschnittene Elektromobilitaets-Strategie. Es sei geplant, von 2014/2015 an Fahrzeuge mit elektrifiziertem Antrieb anzubieten, die zum Teil lokal produziert werden.?Bereits 26 Modelle des Konzerns sind von staatlicher Seite als besonders energiesparend und umweltschonend anerkannt worden. Volkswagen habe den verbrauch seiner in China derzeit mehr als 70 Modelle umfassenden Flotte zwischen 2005 und 2010 um 20 Prozent reduziert und werde ihn bis 2015 um weitere 11 Prozent senken.

VW, so Martin Winterkorn, werde sich aber behaupten und halte an seinem Ziel, bis 2018 Weltmarktfuehrer zu werden, fest. Schliesslich habe man alle Voraussetzungen, um den guten Weg der vergangenen Jahre auch unter veraenderten wirtschaftlichen Bedingungen fortzusetzen. Die drei Geschaeftsfelder Pkw, Nutzfahrzeuge und Power Engineering sowie Finanzdienstleistungen seien profitabel, die zwoelf Marken und 280 Modelle deckten nahezu alle Wuensche und Beduerfnisse der Kunden ab und da man in allen wichtigen Regionen der Welt praesent sei, koenne man nicht nur Zwischentiefs einzelner Maerkte ausgleichen, sondern auch Wachstumschancen ueberall auf der Welt wahr nehmen.?

Darum ist die Shanghai Autoshow fuer die Hersteller auch eine der wichtigsten im Kalender.?VW zeigt die innovative Studie CrossBlue Coupe. Ein 415 PS starkes SUV das von einem V6-Benziner und zwei Elektromotoren befeuert wird, aber nur drei Liter auf 100 Kilometer verbraucht. Mit dem neuen Rapid duerfte Skoda das richtige Auto fuer die Chinesen haben, die sich zum ersten Mal ueberhaupt ein Auto kaufen. Auch wenn das fuer uns kaum vorstellbar ist, gibt es davon im Reich der Mitte immer noch eine ganze Menge. Opel ist nach fuenfjaehriger Abstinenz wieder auf der wichtigsten Automesse Chinas und hat dazu drei neue Modelle, die im Laufe des Jahres dort auf den Markt kommen werden, mitgebracht. Die Autoshow in Shanghai zeigt, dass das Auto im boomenden China einen ganz hohen Stellenwert hat. Auch wenn inzwischen das Thema Umweltvertraeglichkeit wichtiger geworden ist, als noch vor einigen Jahren, ist es mehr als nur ein Transportmittel. Vielmehr ist das richtige Auto ein Accessoire um sein Image aufzupolieren und Eindruck zu machen. Und Europaeische Autos werden deshalb auch zukuenftig in der Kaeufergunst weiter vorne liegen.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 720-4 50 Anniversario is a limited and numbered series of 100 units worldwide. Each unit has a Forged Composite badge with the 50 logo and a serial number. With its output increased to 720 hp, its new performance-oriented front and rear design, the special paintwork and unique interior trim, this Aventador is one of the most exclusive models ever produced in the history of Lamborghini.
At the Shanghai Motor Show 2013 Lamborghini is also presenting the Gallardo LP 560-2 50 Anniversario. It is painted in Bianco Opalis, a shimmering white, and boasts exclusive features like the carbon-fiber rear wing from the Gallardo Superleggera and the transparent engine cover. Furthermore appearing in Shanghai are an Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster in Bianco Isis and a Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder in Grigio Telesto.
All Lamborghini models built in the 2013 anniversary year feature the 50th anniversary emblem in the cockpit. Like every Lamborghini, it is made using a combination of hi-tech and artisanal craftsmanship - the emblem is produced in Forged Composite, a carbon-fiber material patented by Lamborghini. The glazed "50th" logo is then applied by hand by experienced specialists.

Am Vorabend der Auto Shanghai 2013 hat der Volkswagen-Konzern bei seiner traditionellen Group Night nicht nur die automobilen Highlights seines Markenspektrums gezeigt, sondern auch seine Verbundenheit zum Standort China unterstrichen. Ist es doch genau 30 Jahre her, als im April 1983 der erste in China gefertigte Santana vom Band rollte. Eingerahmt von zahlreichen kuenstlerischen Darbietungen, die begeistert beklatscht wurden, wurden aber auch die auf der Messe zu besichtigenden neuen Modelle gewuerdigt. Angefangen von den beiden Weltpremieren des VW CrossBlue Coupe, mit dem die Wolfsburger einen Ausblick in die SUV-Zukunft geben, und der Audi A3 Limousine fuehrte die Autoparade ueber den XL 1, den Bentley Flying Spur, den Skoda Superb, den Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, der Seat Leon SC und den Porsche RS bis hin zum Lamborghini Aventador LP Anniversario. Und auch der Motorradbereich fehlte natuerlich mit einer Ducati Chavel ebenso nicht wie Lkw von MAN und Scania, die aus Platzgruenden allerdings vor der Halle geparkt werden mussten.

Ein voellig neues Konzept fuer einen Mehrzweck-Roller stellen Wissenschaftler von TUM CREATE auf der 3. Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show (EV Taiwan) vor: Das Zwei-Rad-Konzept-Fahrzeug VOI hat seinen Namen von dem vietnamesischen Wort fuer Elefant? ein Symbol fuer sicheren und intelligenten Transport. Studierende der Technischen Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) und Singapurs Nanyang Technological University (NTU) entwickelten und bauten es gemeinsam in Singapur. Mit dem Konzept VOI verfolgen die Studierenden das Ziel, einen agilen und erschwinglichen Zwei-Rad-Transporter zu entwickeln, der die Sicherheit eines Autos bietet. Kompakt und manoevrierfaehig ist der Elektroroller das ideale Vehikel fuer dicht besiedelte Megastaedte, in denen Staus ein permanentes Problem darstellen. Eine geschlossene Passagierkabine verleiht dem Chassis zusaetzliche Steifigkeit und schuetzt den Insassen. Der Fahrer sitzt hinten eroeht und ueberblickt das Verkehrsgeschehen. Mit dem VOI kommt der Passagier schnell und sicher von Ort zu Ort, selbst wenn sich der Autoverkehr staut. Damit ist der Elektroroller auch eine ideale Ergaenzung zum oeffentlichen Nahverkehr, indem er die Wege zwischen den Stationen bedient. Doch der VOI ist nicht nur auf den Personentransport begrenzt: Sein Vorbau kann auch Gueter transportieren oder eine mobile Kueche. Das effiziente Elektrofahrzeug entlastet die staedtische Umwelt, da es selbst keine Abgase erzeugt. Dank seiner Leichtbaukonstruktion besitzt es eine Reichweite von 80 Kilometern. Seine Hoechstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei 45 Kilometern pro Stunde.

Eine enge Parkluecke treibt den meisten Autofahrern Schweissperlen auf die Stirn. Fuer einige Zeitgenossen hat sich daraus eine echte Trendsportart entwickelt. Das funktioniert allerdings nur mit einer Menge Fahrkoennen. In die Minimalsten-Luecken zwaengen die Fahrkuenstler ihr Auto mit Schwung und einem beherzten Griff zur Handbremse. Nichts fuer Angsthasen! Seit vielen Jahren versuchen sie den Spielraum, bis es kracht, immer kleiner zu halten um einen Eintrag ins bekannte Guinnessbuch der Weltrekorde zu bekommen. In den vergangenen zwei Jahren wurde die Bestmarke insgesamt fuenf Mal verbessert. Zuletzt lag der Spielraum in der Parkluecke bei nur 22 Zentimetern - geschafft hat das, wie zu erwarten ein Stuntman. Der Chinese Han Yue hat die Luecke auf gerade einmal 15 Zentimeter Platz verkuerzt. Doch die beiden Brueder Jon und Alastair Moffatt haben diesen Rekord gebrochen und das mit einer Luecke, die nur 13,1cm Raum lässt. Damit haelt das Bruederpaar aus England den aktuellen Guinness-Rekord.

This innovative side- by-side two seat city car eschews a steering wheel for outstanding visibility and ease of entry/exit instead by using two control sticks and buttons to control the speed and direction of the car. A lightweight aluminum chassis and all-electric drive using high torque motor operating a wheel speed (no transmission or gear reduction needed) with integral differential weighed in at just 1545 pounds. This car uses an 800V lithium-ion manganese battery pack and an inverter adapted from a wind turbine power generator. This unusually high vehicle voltage level reduces electrical losses and increases overall vehicle efficiency while using standard electric components. Employing a technique just now being considered by OEMs, this team charges their batteries through their motor and controller.

Die Wahrscheinlichkeit dass Ihnen dieses imposante Auto auf dem Weg zur Arbeit begegnet ist relativ gering, deshalb wollen wir die Gelegenheit nutzen, ihn einmal genauer unter die Lupe zu nehmen und zu staunen.?Zuerst einmal ist der Name neu. War sein Vorgaenger noch ein Derivat der Continental-Baureihe, das lediglich den Namen Flying Spur als Zusatz trug, hoert die aktuelle Generation nur noch auf den Namen New Flying Spur. Britische Limousinen gelten seit den Anfaengen des Automobilbaus als der Inbegriff von Luxus und Sportlichkeit. Dieser Erwartung fuehlt sich auch der neue Bentley verpflichtet. Um es auf den Punkt zu bringen, die 5,30 Meter Limousine ist der staerkste und schnellste Serien-Bentley der je die Hallen verlassen hat. ?Aus seinem in W-Form angeordneten Zwoelfzylinder holt er dank zweier Turbolader 625 PS heraus. Dank Allradantrieb kann der immerhin rund 2,5 Tonnen schwere Flying Spur in 4,6 Sekunden auf Tempo 100 sprinten, erst bei 322 km/h endet der Vortrieb.

SEAT hat nicht nur einen neuen Toledo, sondern auch einen neuen Slogan „Enjoyneering“. Die neue Kompaktklassen-Limousine soll bei Autokäufern für die Entwicklung von Freude sorgen, die ein günstiges und praktisches Auto suchen. Das beginnt schon beim Platzangebot. Obwohl der Toledo wie eine Stufenheck-Limousine wirkt, hat er keine herkömmliche Kofferraum-Klappe. Diese ist wie bei einem Fließheck über der Heckscheibe am Dach angeschlagen und gibt so eine große Öffnung ins Ladeabteil frei. 550 Liter lassen sich so bequem verstauen. Doch nicht nur beim Laderaum kann der neue Toledo überzeugen. Viel Platz im Innenraum bietet er dank 2,60 Meter Radstand auch auf der Rücksitzbank. Weil der Innenraum recht hoch ausgefallen ist, fühlen sich auch Mitfahrer über 1,80 Meter kommod untergebracht. Die Benzinmotoren-Palette reicht von 75 bis 122 PS, dazu gesellt sich ein Diesel, der 105 PS leistet.

Dann wandern die Konzepte nach ihrem glorreichen Messeauftritten still und leise ins Museum oder die Schrottpresse. VW hat mit einem ambitionierten Projekt bewiesen, dass es auch anders geht. Das 1-Liter-Auto erschien zu Beginn vielen Skeptikern noch als reine Utopie. Als VW in Doha den Prototyp des XL1 durch die Straßen fahren ließ, war aber klar, dass es sich nicht nur ein imageträchtiges Marketingprojekt handelt. Spätestens als in Genf die Kleinserie des XL1 ins Scheinwerferlicht rollte, mussten Zweifler erkennen, dass VW es ernst meint.

The luxury four-door GT has been sympathetically redesigned and painstakingly re-engineered to reassert its position as the world's most beautiful, and beautifully balanced, four-seat sports car.
Extensive design and engineering improvements make the new Rapide S even more desirable and refined. It replaces the outgoing Rapide in markets worldwide.
The Rapide S now boasts an even more assertive 'face' created by virtue of the striking new full grille.
The new front end design is matched at the back by a new rear deck profile which consists of a more pronounced boot lid 'flip'. The improved aerodynamic and aesthetic upgrades both reinforce the sporting nature of new Rapide S.
Changes under the car's sinuous skin are comprehensive, with the new AM11 naturally-aspirated 6.0-litre V12 powerplant delivering unprecedented power and improved in-gear acceleration.
Power from the new engine jumps significantly versus that of its predecessor: up by 17% or a massive 80 bhp from 470 bhp at 6,000 rpm to a now very substantial 550 bhp at 6,750 rpm.
Peak torque increases, too, up from 443 lb.ft (600 Nm) to 457 lb.ft (620 Nm) at 5,000 rpm. Meanwhile an even more marked improvement in torque occurs lower down the rev range, as pulling power rises by more than 30 lb ft (40 Nm) between idle and 4,000 rpm with an additional 37 lb ft (50 Nm) available at 2,500 rpm.
Naturally, increases in power and torque lead to even swifter performance as befits a four-door sports car. New Rapide S shaves 0.4 seconds off its 0-60 mph time, which drops from the 5.1 seconds of the current car to just 4.7 seconds for the new model. Top speed climbs, meanwhile, to 190 mph.

In the year of its 50th anniversary Automobili Lamborghini is presenting an extremely exclusive model at the Geneva Motor Show 2013. Only three unique units of the Lamborghini Veneno will be built and sold. Its design is consistently focused on optimum aerodynamics and cornering stability, giving the Veneno the real dynamic experience of a racing prototype, yet it is fully homologated for the road. With a maximum output of 750 hp, the Veneno accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and the top speed for this street-legal racing car stands at 355 km/h. It is priced at three million Euros plus tax - and all three units have already been sold to customers.
The Lamborghini Veneno features a twelve-cylinder power unit with a displacement of 6.5 liters, an extremely fast-shifting 7-speed ISR transmission with 5 driving modes and permanent all-wheel drive, as well as a racing chassis with pushrod suspension and horizontal spring/damper units. Above all, however, the Veneno benefits from the very special expertise that Automobili Lamborghini possesses in the development and execution of carbon-fiber materials, the complete chassis is produced as a CFRP monocoque, as is the outer skin of this extreme sports car. The inside, too, features innovative, Lamborghini-patented materials such as Forged Composite and CarbonSkin.
Fully in keeping with the tradition of the brand, the name of the Veneno originates from a legendary fighting bull. Veneno is the name of one of the strongest and most aggressive fighting bulls ever. He is also famous for being one of the fastest bulls in the history of bullfighting. His name became popular in 1914, when he fatally wounded the famous torero Jose Sanchez Rodre?guez during the bullfight in the arena Sanl'car de Barrameda's, Andalusia, Spain. The Veneno is further proof of Automobili Lamborghini's unique competence in CFRP-based lightweight design. A monocoque made from carbon-fiber reinforced polymer forms the basis of the Veneno. It is largely similar to the Aventador monocoque, as are the aluminum sub-frames front and rear although its form has been adapted to the new design. All exterior parts are made from CFRP. The Lamborghini Veneno celebrates its first public appearance at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle on show is the number 0, the Lamborghini test vehicle. Its future has not been determined yet, but it will allow Lamborghini to continue its activity of testing and innovation, both on the road and on the race track.

The tour began in Agadir and ran southwards passing Tafraout, Tiznit, Mirleft, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, Tan Tan, Tarfaya, Laayoune, Boujdour until Dakhla. Here, all the tour participants were drawn by gorgeous mountain-, coastal and dune panoramic views in Morocco's spell. This travel off the beaten track allowed us to enjoy all these beautiful places in calm. Some of the tour impressions we want to share with you in the following short recording.

PRN Ignition's Managing Editor Shaun Keenan travels to Austin, Texas to take the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT out on the brand spanking new Circuit of the Americas Formula One race track. Talk about brand spanking? The SRT monster truck has the goods, and then some. Its toothy 6.4-litre Hemi V8 sends 470 hp and 465 lb-ft of twist through an eight-speed transmission and full-time 4x4 system that can propel it to speeds above above 210 km/h (130 mph) at the end of the very long back straightaway. Chunky Pirelli P-Zero tires and a SRT-tuned Bilstein sport suspension take care of things in the corners while the massive Brembo brakes proved they can take some serious abuse too.

Many classic and muscle cars were built in an era when automakers used open vents to allow air into fuel tanks. These vents were often hidden over the fuel tank, or up along the fuel filler neck. Back in the day, this was perfectly acceptable, but today, we're much more environmentally conscious. When you convert an old car to electronic fuel injection, like we did on our 1955 Thunderbird, that open fuel vent becomes a source of increased fuel smell as well. High-pressure recirculating fuel systems warm the fuel, returning it to the tank with even more vapor, compounding the problem. In addition, the original vents often do not provide enough air supply for the tank as the fuel level drains. The crew at II Much Fabrication have come up with an innovative solution with their billet Fuel and Differential Vent which allows for sufficient fresh air into the tank, and also incorporates a separator to allow the fuel vapor to return to liquid and drain back into the tank.

TOYOTA Racing today unveiled the revised TS030 HYBRID car, which will spearhead the team's quest for victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this season.
Following a successful roll-out earlier this month, TOYOTA Racing begins the first full test of the 2013-specification TS030 HYBRID at Paul Ricard in southern France tomorrow.
After an impressive debut in the WEC in 2012, which included three victories in just six races, the team returns with an ambition to win both the Le Mans 24 Hours and the WEC title. Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima team up again in the #7 TS030 HYBRID. The #8 will compete outside of Le Mans for the first time, with Anthony Davidson, Stephane Sarrazin, and Sebastien Buemi driving.
The team will again utilise the TOYOTA HYBRID System - Racing powertrain, developed exclusively for motorsport by TOYOTA's Motor Sport Division in Higashifuji. A unique super capacitor-based hybrid system delivers 300hp of boost automatically, on top of the 530hp generated by a 3.4litre, normally-aspirated V8 petrol engine. Ahead of a completely new development for 2014 due to regulation changes, TOYOTA's Motor Sport Division in Higashifuji has fine-tuned this year's powertrain to improve power, efficiency, management of component usage and reliability. The race-winning TS030 HYBRID chassis has also been modified for the upcoming season, with increased performance, reliability and serviceability the priorities.
TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), which designs, builds and operates the TS030 HYBRID, has used its extensive R&D testing facilities and experienced engineers to deliver the next evolution. A revised aerodynamic package, including an updated monocoque, will deliver improved performance whilst minimising the impact of updated regulations in 2013 which increase the minimum weight for manufacturer LMP1 cars by 15kg.

After logging some miles on our 1955 Thunderbird "CoyoTBird", we felt the car was running pretty well, but it suffered from a couple of things that we wanted to fix. First off, the car would backfire on deceleration, which we did not like but also signaled a problem. Secondly, the variable cam timing on the Ford 5.0 Coyote engine felt like it needed calibration. The car accelerated smoothly up to 4000 RPM, then the cam timing changed and it took off like a rocket. We wanted to see if that timing could be adjusted to bring on stronger acceleration at a lower RPM and not feel like such an on-off switch. We enlisted the help of the High Performance Racing program instructor Jason Gann at Ranken Technical College , as they have a chassis dyno and access to the latest SCT Performance tuning software to smooth out our 'Bird.

The Audi R8 LMS had won all of the other key 24 hour races at the Nuerburgring, Spa, Zolder and Bathurst in the past year. The Weathertech R8 GRAND-AM took the lead during the final six laps and never let it go. In total, 678 lapse were raced, 2,414 miles were driven and more than half of it at full throttle.

314.783.8325 - In this installment of the "Lou's Change" 1969 Camaro build, the V8 Speed and Resto shop crew is installing the Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission into the '69 Camaro. Although this car was originally a 4-speed manual, the modern 6-speed requires some different steps to install. The T-56 Magnum is the factory transmission behind the 640 HP Corvette ZR1, so we know it will be up to the task in our Camaro. We used a complete kit Modern Driveline after speaking with Bruce Couture about the considerations, including the size of the Toyo Proxes R888 tires and rear gear ratio of the Currie 9+ rear axle. The Modern kit came with the transmission, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, shifter, electronic connections, fluid, hydraulic master cylinder and release bearing. We had to make some modifications to the Camaro's floor, and then we built a custom transmission cross member and used a Detroit Speed & Engineering hydraulic clutch master cylinder bracket to mount that part cleanly. This is the second part of the install.

A long-distance truck has to be prepared for all the challenges that lie ahead. It needs to stay in top performing shape, no matter if it crosses the mountains, races over heavy terrain or suffers through both heat and cold. That's why Volvo Trucks has put their new Volvo FH through a number of tough quality tests.
Developing an entirely new truck generation, in which all the components and technical solutions are new imposed huge demands on quality tests. The focal point for many of the tests that were conducted on the new Volvo FH is customer needs.
The tests that were conducted focus on areas such as the truck's reliability, durability and fuel consumption. Initially, individual components such as the chassis, cab and electrical system were tested separately. Once they were approved, it was time for the complete truck to be tested. This was done at both Volvo Trucks' own laboratories and the company's proving grounds such as Kiruna in northern Sweden where temperatures can reach temperatures of -44?C, as well as in regular commercial traffic with our field test haulier.
During the test period, every truck was driven for at least 20,000 kilometres in the freezing cold, where one of the greatest problems was that all the components in the truck – from the hardest material to the electrical system become brittle. The challenge was to develop components that withstand these ice-cold conditions without failing.

Cadillac today unveiled the 2014 ELR at the North American International Auto Show. The sleek luxury coupe is a gas-electric hybrid that leverages the Chevrolet Volt's successful extended range all-electric powertrain.
Using only the energy stored in the battery, the ELR will deliver a GM-estimated range of about 35 miles of pure electric driving, depending on terrain, driving techniques and temperature. This means most daily commutes will require zero gasoline with zero emissions.
Charging the ELR's battery can be done with a 120V electrical outlet or a dedicated 240V charging station. Once the vehicle is plugged in, owners can schedule either immediate or delayed charges, even coordinating charging according to departure time or when electricity rates are lower.
Because the ELR operates so quietly in all-electric mode, a driver-activated feature sounds a noise to alert pedestrians, particularly those with visual impairments, in an intersection. The alert was developed in conjunction with the American Federation of the Blind.
The Cadillac ELR has an aggressive, forward-leaning profile that introduces a new design evolution that will be carried over into future Cadillacs. ELR production begins in the United States in late 2013 with sales starting in early 2014 in North America and expanding to global markets.

A new NSX Concept that showcases the evolution of the next-generation supercar's styling and design, including a first look at the possible direction for its interior design was unveiled today by American Honda on their Acura stand.
The design stays remarkably true to the original concept styling, maintaining its low and wide stance with the dynamic and alluring proportions that are highlighted by clean, modern and simple surfacing, and edgy details that communicate supercar attitude and a high-tech feel.
The new NSX Concept offers a glimpse at one potential direction for the next-generation NSX's interior design. The interior package boasts outstanding visibility, a strong driving position, and an intuitive "Simple Sports Interface" that minimises interior clutter, allowing the driver to focus on the driving experience. Consistent with the spirit of the original NSX, Honda's designers have strived to deliver synergy between man and machine.

Bentley has unveiled its new open-top performance flagship, the Continental GT Speed Convertible, at the North American International Auto Show, at the same time as the business announces a 22 per cent global sales increase, with the Americas region maintaining its position as Bentley's number one market.
Commenting during the Bentley press conference at the Detroit Auto Show, Dr.Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive, said: "The new Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible is a truly breath-taking Grand Tourer, promising supercar performance and high end luxury, with the added thrill of open top motoring. This unveiling maintains our position as the largest producer of high luxury cars in the world, with our market share continuing to grow.
"2012 has been an excellent year for Bentley, with a 22 per cent increase in global sales with 8,510 cars delivered to customers. The US remains our number one market, seeing a 23 per cent growth last year with deliveries of 2,315 cars. We expect the luxury market in 2013 to be challenging but we will continue to operate a sustainable business as we look to maintain this double-digit growth."
Also on stand at Detroit is the Continental GT V8. Powered by a new 4.0 litre, twin turbocharged V8, the Continental GT and its GT Convertible stablemate achieve exceptional standards for power-to-emissions in the high luxury sports car sector.
Finally, Bentley is showcasing a highly distinctive and sporting interpretation of its flagship Mulsanne at the 2012 North American International Auto Show this year. The versatile CrossBlue SUV concept that is making its global debut at the North American International Auto Show was developed specifically for the U.S. and Canada. The concept hints at the styling direction of an all-new small SUV scheduled to be launched in Japan at the end of 2013 and in the U.S. in 2014. The model will subsequently be introduced in Europe.
The Urban SUV Concept represents the expansion of vehicles that will be based on Honda's new Global Compact Series platform, which include the Honda Fit (Jazz in Europe) and the Honda City.
The Urban SUV Concept, designed to provide aesthetic cues for an all-new small SUV, showcases clean and sophisticated styling, dynamic lines and a strong stance. The small SUV will be rolled out across the world and will be powered by Honda's fuel-efficient Earth Dreams Technology. In this installment of the "Lou's Change" 1969 Camaro build, the V8 Speed and Resto shop crew is installing the Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission into the '69 Camaro. Although this car was originally a 4-speed manual, the modern 6-speed requires some different steps to install. The T-56 Magnum is the factory transmission behind the 640 HP Corvette ZR1, so we know it will be up to the task in our Camaro. We used a complete kit Modern Driveline after speaking with Bruce Couture about the considerations, including the size of the Toyo Proxes R888 tires and rear gear ratio of the Currie 9+ rear axle. The Modern kit came with the transmission, flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, shifter, electronic connections, fluid, hydraulic master cylinder and release bearing. We had to make some modifications to the Camaro's floor, and then we built a custom transmission cross member and used a Detroit Speed & Engineering hydraulic clutch master cylinder bracket to mount that part cleanly. This is the first part of the install.

The Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals is a great place to see restored and surviving historic race cars, and the Red Light Bandit built and raced by Bill Bagshaw is a great example. This 1970 Dodge Challenger helped pioneer Pro Stock, and although it has been restored, the car retains most of the unique performance tricks that made it such an awesome performer. From the HEMI V8 under the hood to the innovative tube chassis inside, this car was a potent performer built by a fascinating engineer.

Back in 1969, Hurst built 3 1969 Olds Cutlass convertibles to showcase their shifters, and they brought the lovely Linda Vaughn along to add to the over-the-top presentation. One burned, one is accounted for, but the 3rd went missing. These Oldsmobiles are far beyond the regular 442, as they featured a 455 cube big block Olds under the hood, backed by a Muncie 4-Speed shifted by - of course - a Hurst shifter. The white and gold paint scheme was wild, but it's impact was not even close to the giant a hurst shifter mounted on the trunk mounted platform modeled by Ms. Golden Shifter Linda Vaughn! Recently, this car was discovered as being one of the 3 authentic cars, and was treated to a spectacular restoration by Level 1 Restorations and unveiled to the public by Linda herself at the 2012 Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals. The iconic Olds is ready once again to wow the crowds at dragstrips with Linda waving to the crowds from the platform and giant Hurst shifter!

Waehrend schleppender Netzausbau, hohe Kosten und immer neue auf Verbraucher abgewaelzte Umlagen fuer den Strom von morgen die Schlagzeilen unserer Medien bestimmen, macht Audi - fast im Stillen - Naegel mit Koepfen. In emslaendischen Werlte baut der Autobauer die weltweit erste industrielle Anlage, die aus CO2 und erneuerbarem Strom synthetisches Methan erzeugt. Das sogenannte e-Gas ist chemisch dem fossilen Erdgas gleichzusetzen und kann deshalb in das bestehende Erdgasnetz eingespeist werden. An CNG-Tankstellen steht es im kommenden Jahr zur Verfuegung und wird vertankt. Der Clou: Das eingesetzte CO2 ist das Abfallprodukt einer nahegelegenen Biogasanlage. Dieses e-gas-Projekt der Ingolstaedter ist schon mal eine Antwort auf die bislang offene Frage, wie sich regenerativer Strom ortsunabhaengig speichern laesst.
