Upgrading Your Motorcycle Essentials Could Save Your Life

Posted by EmilyGeorgie about 5 years ago
How’s the motorbike treating you? Good?

That’s good news. Motorbikes should be treating you well, after all - there are only two wheels! But what about your essentials? Your worn helmet and torn jacket? Riding a bike exposes you to all the elements that God intended, so sooner or later, your gear is going to take a hit, if not your bike. The bad news is, the more you ride, the quicker this is going to happen.

You need to keep yourself safe on a motorbike, so keeping your essentials in top grade is of huge importance to your safety. If you do happen to fall off and slide down the road, will you trust your ripped jacket to protect you from the road? Don’t take the chance.

So is it time to upgrade? It’s pretty much always time to upgrade.

The helmet is the sole pinnacle of biking. Not only is it illegal to ride without one, it’s going to save your life and/or your teeth. A worn helmet that has taken a few bumps is a liability to your ride and it won’t be as protective as you’ll hope. The shame is that by the time you realize this, it might be far too late. The problem with a helmet is that they may be ruined internally after a hit or drop. If you’ve been involved in an accident, don’t try to get more usage out of your helmet. Replace it as soon as possible.

The jacket is another key of riding. Whilst you won’t be pulled over by the cops if you’re not wearing one, you could end up in an ambulance without one. There are hundreds of material options on the market, with road-warrior like shoulder pads and rib-cage guards. It matters not what you choose or fancy, just as long as the jacket is going to protect your insides from the road. There are plenty of options to choose from and you are free to make your own choice, but why not try this out? Reviews are essential when upgrading your gear. Choose the best option for you and be prepared to replace and upgrade once again when the time comes.
Boots are likely the most damaged piece of equipment you own. Not only do they come into contact with surfaces and dirt, they also protect the closest part of your body to the floor. Your feet. You will find it difficult to ride with a broken foot so don't push your luck if your boots are clearly worn. You'll need good boots to operate your bike, so if they are flapping all over, your performance is going to suffer and put you at risk. Invest in good quality boots, made from high-quality material and try not to worry about your feet!

The truth is that driving a motorcycle can be dangerous and the essentials are all that are protecting you from the hazards of the road. Take your gear and it’s condition seriously and don’t be afraid to put your hand in your pocket to replace it all if needs be. It could protect you from harm, or save your life.
