New Year, New Ride Posted by EmilyGeorgie about 6 years ago Share Article Comments Related Whilst the rest of the world are still repeating the mantra ‘New year, new you’ some of us are more focussed on ‘New year, new car’ and as Spring approaches we start to get that twitch for some really good summer driving. So it’s time to think about resting your truck, putting away the 4x4 and investing in a high octane summer ride.Lets check out a couple of ways to get into a ride that fits the season more than your Dodge Ram. The market is awash with great finance deals, giving you the opportunity to buy a brand new car to see in the new year. Check out this list of 2017 cars and head down to your local dealer for test driving. Our pick of the bunch stretches three ways. For those who fancy a little european madness the new BMW M2 is the sexy younger sister of the M240i, and she packs an extra 30 bhp through the inline six cylinder engine giving you 370 bhp to play with. For some real all American driving the Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE is going to tick all your boxes. She springs to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and at 116 mph whips the quarter in just 12.4 seconds. For a fraction of the price, the SS 1LE is nipping at the ankles of her biggest German rival, the C63 S. The Chevy may look like a big lump of muscle, but she has the elegance of a ballet dancer. Finally, the Ford Mustang Shelby. There is little to say about this growling V8 pussy cat. Not only does she hold her own in the beauty stakes, next to most modern supercars, but she pounces pretty hard on performance too. We can almost feel those summer road trips already! What about second hand cars for those with a lower budget? The rear wheel drive, manual transmission, coupe or cabriolet styled, 210 horsepower, V6 2009 Ford Mustang - that was a mouthful - is sitting on the second hand market sub $10,000. That is a lot of bang for your buck. Of course you could bag yourself the 300 bhp 4.8 ltr V8 version or head out to find the special edition Mustang Bullitt. Whatever you chose there is nothing about this fine filly that is going to disappoint you, from driving to styling she will have a smile on your face and, if you get the drop top version, hours of wind in your hair driving pleasure. If you are happy to ditch two seats then get the peppy and responsive Mazda MX-5 Miata. With the roof down and a set of reclining bucket seats to hold squeeze you gently as you effortlessly toss her round a few corners, this 2009 treat is a real cool steal for under $9,000. Whilst the Mazda doesn’t afford you too much luxury on the inside, the interior seems a little scratch and plastic dominates the cockpit, she certainly offers plenty on the outside. Super responsive steering makes driving her feel like second nature, giving you more time to focus on looking good and enjoying the sun! So make this new year all about a new car and then start planning those long summer roadtrips! Tags:
