To Buy Or Not To Buy: SUV Edition: Chevrolet Tahoe

Posted by Ben Davidson about 2 years ago
SUVs or sport utility vehicles are one of America’s most popular type of transportation. They have high wheel bases, four wheel drive, and provide much space and comfort for the passengers. But before you run out and spend your hard earned money on one; it's best to get up to speed with the most popular models and what exactly makes them the best choice. This article will give you a good look at the Chevrolet Tahoe, a hugely popular choice in the SUV market. So then you can decide whether it's the right vehicle for your needs.

Chevrolet Tahoe - Go Big Or Go Home

The Chevrolet Tahoe isn't for the faint hearted. It's a big vehicle weighing in at over 5000 lbs and at 200 in long, so it's most definitely a presence on any road it happens to be driving along. But does that mean it's the best choice to make when it comes to all the SUVs that are on the market today? Let's see, shall we?

    Disadvantages

As it's always better to get the bad news out of the way first, let's start with the problems that Chevrolet Tahoe encounters. It's a big beast, and so it drinks a lot of fuel, around 15 mpg to be precise. Then you have the lack of space in the third row and boot seem disproportionate to such a large and hefty vehicle.

Also on the downside, there is the price, with the Tahoe topping out at $75 - $ 80K new, it's certainly not the cheapest of options. Meaning even raising the down payment for many families is going to be a struggle. Of course, approaching a dealership that offers inhouse financing on second-hand models can help make things more affordable. As they often have more freedom to OK car finance no matter what the credit, or down payment situation of the buyer.

    Advantages

Chevrolet fans will be pleased to discover that there are many advantages to this vehicle. The first is that for such a monstrously large car it's actually quite speedy. That's right it can get from 0-60 mph in a very reasonable 7.2 seconds, and with a top speed of 114, it's big, but it's certainly not slow.

It's also jammed with safety features that make it a great family car. These include AEB, as well as lane keeping assist, and rear traffic and dead zones alerts.

However, the tech in this vehicle goes a lot further than just safety features, as you will also find some excellent infotainment options such as integrated Apple Play. Meaning you can listen and respond to texts more safely, get directions, and choose your music easily to keep you entertained on a long ride.

The Tahoe is also a good looking beast of a car. The interior is finished nicely, as is the exterior, and inside you can expect adjustable seats that both heat and cool. As well as plenty of room in the front two rows, making it perfect for a long trip.

Also with such weight behind it, the Tahoe is an excellent choice for towing or hauling a trailer, or caravan. Ideal for those into camping or weekend hobbies where they need to transport their kit from A to B in both style and comfort.
