A Deeper Look At The New Audi R8 Spyder

Posted by Ben Davidson about 1 years ago
The Audi R8 R8 spyder has been taking the car market by storm due to its amazing balance between glamour, style and everyday practicality. So today, we want to have a deeper look at this model to determine exactly why it continues to grow in popularity.

    Mechanics

The new Spyder uses a fabric roof which gives drivers ease of use when wanting to open it up as a convertible. The electronic convertible mechanism has the roof opening and closing in 20 seconds at moving speeds of up to 30mph. It offers a really healthy 540 horsepower and the maximum torque is 398 Lb-ft which is served up at an impressive 6500 rpm. Audi has also updated the engine with a new dual fuel-injection system that switches between port and direct injection which is necessary for the car to run at maximum efficiency on maximum power.

    Drivability

All these functions take the Audio from zero to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds which means it is a seriously nifty ride and can take you up to speeds as high as 198 mph. These speeds can be explored with a supercar hire company or by hiring one to open up around a racing circuit. Anyone wanting to experience the V-10 torque, via the seven speed clutch automatic can’t fail but be impressed by the power of this model, yet the ease of handling such a speedy sports car. The gear changes work at lightening speed but for those needing a slightly more relaxing drive in this car can enjoy smoother shifts and much less crackle from the exhaust. The Spyder turns with incredible precision and all four wheels stay firmly planted on all road terrains.

    Design

The new R8 model now incorporates a carbon fibre element, which although makes the model slightly stiffer than the first model, it actually makes this new versions ever so slightly lighter. The 2017 Spyder also now proudly boasts an all wheel drive system and an enhanced chassis, which just serves to further emphasis the sophistication of this model.

Although the R8 qualifies well as an urban runaround it also transfers well to long distance and rural driving too. The boot is surprisingly spacious and the interior is also very generous with spacing putting it miles ahead of its predecessors. It has a glass rear window which can be lowered even with the roof up.

The dashboard of the car is one of the most impressive design elements of the car and gives its drivers an almost futuristic look and feel when sitting in the driver's seat. It is one of the most forward thinking of all the new Audi models and also when compared to other cars in its sector.

The exterior is not quite as exciting as the outside of the car has taken on a slightly more conservative feel. However the dramatic LED lights do make up for other limitations, however as style is certainly a matter of taste, there is no denying that the Audi R8 Spyder certainly has earnt its place as one of the World's most impressive current day super sports cars.
