Don’t Play Roulette With Your Pre-Loved Car, Be Smart!

Posted by Ben Davidson about 3 months ago
Cars are often one of the most expensive purchases we ever make. That is why when it comes to replacing your old car with a newer model, it is vital that you know what you are doing and don’t end up playing a fatal game of roulette. Every driver likes to think that they know everything that there is about cars, but the truth of the matter is that this isn’t the case. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you don’t need help when it comes to choosing a new car, be smart about it and take all of the help that you can get.

Let’s take a look at the steps that you can take to ensure that when you buy a new car, you aren’t making a costly mistake. Read on for everything that you need to know.

Get the vehicle inspected (by professionals)

Don’t skip getting a pre-loved vehicle inspected before you buy, as that is just asking for trouble. Ask yourself, would you purchase a property without having a survey done on it? The chances are the answer is no, as you wouldn’t want to risk buying somewhere that wasn’t as ‘healthy’ as you thought it was. Well, it’s the same with cars, never buy a used car without having an inspection completed on it first. Sure, it will come at a cost, but it’s worth it, especially if the car is an investment. Don’t let yourself be taken for a mug by a dodgy used car dealer, take steps to protect yourself and your money

Check how much it will cost to insure

Never purchase a car without checking how much it would cost to insure. The last thing you want is to part ways with your hard earned cash, only to find that the vehicle you have bought is extremely expensive to insure. That’s why it pays to run a couple of quotes before you commit to purchasing a vehicle. Don’t forget to use resources like Comparaencasa to compare quotes, so that you can ensure that you get the best price for your policy. After all, there is no point paying more for your policy than you have to, is there?

    Track its history

The internet is an incredible resource and one that makes car purchasing a lot easier. Not only are there various sites that share multiple pre-loved vehicle for sale adverts, but there are also specialist sites that offer vehicle history tracking. To ensure that a vehicle you are looking at has the past you’ve been told it has, and hasn’t been involved in any accidents or been seriously damaged, tracking its history can be worthwhile. This usually costs a few pounds, but if definitely something that’s worth doing.

Test drive it (for further than a mile)

Most sellers offer test driving of vehicles. However, not all sellers offer long enough test drives. You can’t get a feel for a vehicle or how it runs if you don’t test drive it for more than a mile or two, so it’s worth only viewing vehicles that you will be able to drive for at least five miles, to get a real feel for how they run.

There you have it, everything that you need to know to shop smart when it comes to buying a pre-loved car.
