In-Car Essentials: What New Drivers Must Keep in their Car

Posted by Ben Davidson about 5 months ago
When you are a new driver, you need to be prepared for anything. Hopefully, you will be feeling confident enough to face whatever you need to. But if you get into a situation that is a little different from the norm, then it can cause you to wonder what to do. Sometimes, the only bad thing about being on the road is other drivers!

First of all, getting a good car insurer is a must. Knowing that you’re covered for any eventuality is such peace of mind. You never know what other drivers and motorists out there will do. So being prepared with insurance is important before you get out on the road. Be sure to look up some reviews, though, like a review of Youi car insurance, for example. You don’t want to get a policy with an insurer that actually isn’t going to pay out should you get in an accident. So do your research.

But  what are some of the in-car essentials to help you be prepared for any eventuality? Here are some things your car needs

    Tire Pressure Gauge

If you have a newer car, this is likely to already be installed in the car, and you’ll get a notification on the dashboard when the tire pressure dips. But if you have an older car, due to being a new driver, then having a gauge for the tire pressure is a must. Not only can you save fuel if your tires are the correct pressure, but it makes it much safer to drive too.

    First Aid Kit

Because you don’t know what lies around the corner, a proper first aid kit is going to be key to helping you if you do get in a small accident. Bandages and band-aids are a must to be able to help yourself or others out of a tricky situation.

    Jumper Cables

If your car battery dies, then you can get a boost from another car using jumper cables. If it saves having to call out a breakdown company, then it can save you time and money, and get you on your way much faster.

    Car Manual

It doesn’t matter if your car is new or old, you need the manual to be in the glovebox. All cars are going to be designed slightly differently, so a new light that pops up on the dashboard might throw you off. If you have the manual, you’ll know what it is. It also helps you with things like the right pressure for your car type’s tires, as well as airbags and other functions.

    Torch

Having a torch can be really helpful if you break down in the dark. You don’t know when you might need it, so it is just a good thing to have. Make sure you have batteries for it, or you could think about getting a wind up torch instead.

What are some go-to essentials that you always have in your car? Any advice and tips for new drivers? It would be great to hear what you think.
