Making That New Car Feeling Last

Posted by Ben Davidson about 3 months ago

There’s nothing like getting a new car. The feeling of sitting in a brand new vehicle, breathing in the smell of fresh leather and clean upholstery. Looking at the shiny dash, spending time learning what all of the buttons and knobs do and taking your time to explore all of the little details, like hidden storage and modern gadgets. A brand new car is the ultimate new toy for most adults. It’s exciting. That first drive around in a new vehicle is the ultimate luxury. It can feel completely different to your old vehicle. You’ll feel more confident and self-assured. Driving a new car can give you a sense of control; it could even make you a better driver.

But, unfortunately, that feeling doesn’t last. You spend time researching your old Car Trade In Value to help you to get the best deal. You test drive new cars and spend time speaking to dealers. You might negotiate or look at financing options. All in all, it can take weeks, or even longer to find the perfect new car, and deal. Then, in less time than that, your vehicle stops feeling new. You get used to the feeling of it. It’s not your new car anymore. It’s just your car.

Which is a terrible shame. That new car feeling is fantastic. There’s nothing more luxurious. Fortunately, however, there are plenty of things that you can do to make that new car feeling last for longer. So that you always feel fantastic when you drive it. They’ll also help you to keep those new car cravings at bay for a lot longer, which could save you a fortune.

    Keep it Clean

Have you ever noticed that you tend to wash your car less as it gets older? That’s because your sense of pride in its appearance has diminished over time. You’re no longer as bothered about showing it off, and keeping it clean doesn’t seem quite so important. But, it works the other way too. A clean car will make you feel proud. Get it washed regularly, and it will stay new for longer.

    Inside and Out

Most of us are guilty of completely ignoring the insides of our cars when we do clean them. Yours might be filled with rubbish and covered in dust. A car like this has clearly lost its new sheen, not to mention its fresh smell. Hoover it out, throw trash away and wipe the surfaces regularly.

    Keep it Well Maintained

Keep on top of small things, like having scratches filled, and paintwork touched up to keep your car looking new. But, don’t forget less obvious things like changing your oil, which will help the car drive like new.

    Get Some Gadgets

If you start to feel bored, you don’t need a brand new car. Spice things up by adding some modern technology and in-car gadgets so that you’ve got something new to play with.

Don’t Ignore the Check Engine Light

A lot of us are also guilty of ignoring niggles. Your check engine light might be on for a while before you do anything about it. This will mean that you are driving a car that isn’t at its best and making the problem worse. Deal with issues quickly, and your car will feel newer and last longer.
