Easy Ways To Turn Your Old Car Into A New Ride

Posted by Ben Davidson about 2 months ago

Everyone has, at some point in their life, taken a look at their car and felt a certain degree of despair. Whether your car is old, unloved, or simply in need of a bit of sprucing up, here are some ideas that will help you feel a lot happier when you’re driving through life.

    Change Your Suspension

Regarding the suspension of your car, there are two ways to go. Almost everyone veers towards being a Truck Person or a Sports Car Person (and the luckiest among of us have both in their garage!). If you consider yourself a sports car person and you’d like to give your car a more sleek look and vibe, you can take it to your local garage and get the suspension lowered. There are pros and cons to this: on the downside it can be less comfortable, it can get pricey, and you can’t use a standard jack. But on the plus side, it gives you more road feel and the aerodynamics are better. If you want your car to seem more like a truck, you can get the suspension raised. It will give you more ground clearance - but beware, it will raise the car’s center of gravity so be careful when you’re making sharp turns.

    Fix Those Windows

Who wants windows that people on the outside of your car can see through? Absolutely nobody. If you’re looking for a cheap and easy way to make your car look instantly more expensive and classy, tinting your windows is the way to go. Look for local auto window tinting services and get a quote. Tinting your windows can protect the inside of your car from the summer sun, and you’ll have less glare when you’re driving, along with fewer UV rays and less heat from the sun. On the downside, there may be less visibility, so you’ll need to be careful when driving.

    Make It More Child Friendly

Making your car more friendly doesn’t sound, on the surface, like a way to make it even better and cooler. But the truth is that being a family person is a pretty excellent way to be, and making sure that your car fits your lifestyle is always a good idea. The worst thing to find in a family car is mess - not only does it look bad, but it might not smell that great either. When you have kids, reupholster your seats so they’re easy to wipe clean, and invest in a mini vacuum cleaner to keep in your trunk for any snacking that might go on in the back seat. Make sure that the car seats are installed correctly - you can get this checked at your local fire department. On the back of each front seat, hang a shoe holder with pockets. In there, you can keep spare bottles, snacks, and activities for your kids in an organised way that will mean the back seat doesn’t get cluttered. It may not be a sleek sports car, but having your family vehicle organised, easy to clean, and fragrant - don’t forget the air freshener - is the best way to feel good about your car.

These tips should help you feel much better about your vehicle - the only thing left is to make sure that you drive safe!
