Got A Car That You Can't Afford?

Posted by Ben Davidson about 7 months ago

There are so many commitments we have to make in our lives that are destined to drain our money. They're like natural paths that we have to take, and if we don't we're missing out on something. So one of the first for the majority of people, is driving. You can drive from the age of 15 in the US under a learner's permit, and you could be fully on the road by the age of 17. That's a lot less than in other countries! From the moment you start driving, you should start to understand the value of it. You'll have been working a part time job to try and fund it. Some of you might have been lucky enough to have a bit of money from your parents, but that part time life will be a big turning point for you. From there it only gets more expensive, and some of you might end up with a car that you can barely even keep on the road. It is, after all, a lot more expensive than people tend to realise! So we're going to give you a few tips, and show you how you can keep your all important can on the road!

    Get Out Of That Finance

Getting into the trap of paying for a finance deal can be so easy. It usually happens when people's old first car that is well past its sell by date, is breaking down. Stuck with what to do, people jump into a finance deal so they can get a nice new car to drive around in. It's more like a panic decision because without a car, people can become seriously lost. So the best thing we can recommend doing, is getting out of the finance deal. You will generally find that if you sell the car, you'll make up enough money to pay off the finance, and then you can buy your way out of the deal. Saving for a few months and buying a cheap run around is going to be far more cost effective, than sticking to a finance deal that you're struggling to afford.

Keep It Out Of The Garage

Every car is going to end up if the garage one day. You'll be so lucky if you can get a car, and sell it on within enough time to not see it in the garage. All these costs can keep adding up and up, so it might be worth having a look at Cars Protection Plus, to financially protect you when the car does go in the garage. But to try and keep it out of the garage as much as possible, you should think about simple driving techniques like always driving using the appropriate gear, avoiding potholes, and keep up with the services.

Drive On The Right Side Of The Line

One way that so many gain added expenses to their monthly driving total, is by going against the law and getting speeding fines, or other types of driving fines. Some get enough points for offenses such as speeding, that they actually have their licence taken off them! So always make sure you're sensible driving, and keep those costs down!
