Making Your Car Work For You

Posted by Ben Davidson about 2 months ago

Cars can be an expensive purchase, and once you own your vehicle, the costs don’t stop there. Over the lifetime of your car, you’ll have to pay out for insurance, fuel, all kinds of repairs, replacing your oil and tires, along with paying out for any taxes or safety tests needed to keep the car on the road legally.

This can all add up to a considerable sum. Running a car is never going to be cheap, and the prices involved in maintaining your vehicle are never going to stop rising. Finding the money in your budget to run your car can be tricky at times. But very often, we are reliant on our cars to get us to work or for longer trips away. They provide us with freedom and the ability to go out and live our lives the way that we want to. Getting by without a car can be tough, especially once you are used to owning on.

But there are ways that you can earn some extra money from owning your car. Here are a few suggestions of things that you may want to do to subsidize your ownership.

Sell Advertising Space On Your Vehicle

One of the easiest ways of getting some extra money for the running of your car is to sell advertising space on the side of your vehicle. By having vehicle wraps made up by a sponsor, you could provide an advertising service for local businesses.

If you are out and about in your car a lot, then you will probably pass by a considerable amount of vehicles each day. The more you drive, the more you will pass. And, if you commute during rush hour, that’s even more people. All of these people will be likely to see the advert on your car. That could be very useful for a local business.

You will need to make sure that the car is kept in good condition though, as it will now represent a brand.

    Rent Your Car Out

If you have a nice car that is very desirable, why not rent it out so that others can enjoy it too? You may want to let it out for weddings or even to be used on the sets of movies.

Again, you will need to keep your car in top condition, especially if it is being used for something that is very prestigious.

Let Other People Use Your Car When You Are Not

If there are times of the day when you don’t need your car, other people could be making use out of it. You could generate quite a decent passive income by letting other people hire your car

Think about how Airbnb lets you rent out your spare room, well there are similar companies that offer a comparable service for your car.

Just make sure that your car is well maintained and get it listed, and you could enjoy the financial benefits of letting others drive it.
