How You Can Make Money From Your Car

Posted by Ben Davidson about 2 months ago

Whether you've just purchased a car, or have been driving for years, you'll agree that it can be expensive to drive every day. Expenditures can mount up quickly, sometimes to the point where you might even consider getting rid of your car. Yet there are ways your car can help pay for itself. We’re living in a time where making a bit of extra money is something everyone jumps at the chance to. With COVID-19 taking its toll on everyone financially too, the opportunity to make some extra cash is even more inviting. But how can you make money from your car?

Rent out your car

If your car is only being used for your commute to work and dropping the kids at school, then why not rent it out when it’s not being used? You can use websites like Turo to easily list your price, pick up location and also the availability of your car. Be sure to check with your insurance company because in some cases, doing this can invalidate your insurance.

Alternatively, if you’ve got an ample garage space or a lot, you could rent out a parking space for some extra income all year round.

Clear out your garage

If you’re like a lot of petrolheads, then it’s likely you’ve got a cache of cars in your garage that you’ve picked up cheap or inherited from friends and family. Why not have a clearout? Are there cars that you’re likely to never get back on the road? Consider selling those cars to a towing company such as Sanford and Son Junk Cars. On the plus side, you’ll have more room in your garage to either rent out or for more cars in the future!

Put adverts on your car

Admittedly having adverts plastered all over your car might not be something you’re too keen on, but it’s an effortless way of making some extra cash while merely driving your car! Companies like Car Quids will let you choose which brands you’re happy to have on your car, send you the adverts and all you have to do is drive around as usual (and, of course, watch the money roll in). You could earn up to £100 a month!

Do some courier work

If you’ve got some free time and you love driving, then courier work might be the perfect solution for you. Companies like Amazon pay regular drivers to help deliver packages to excited recipients. All you need is a working car with an M.O.T and some free time to drive around!

Carpool

Finally, another fantastic way of earning some extra money with your car is by choosing to car share on your commute to work. Invite a colleague to join you on your commute instead of travelling on overcrowded public transport in exchange for a small amount of money. Even if it merely pays for your fuel costs, you’re saving money!

Try these fun ways of making some extra money with your car and enjoy the extra cash to spend!
