However, the Starliner was parked back in 1970, for reasons still unclear to Mike. What is known, is that Mike and his buddy Dan Vasic will be performing a “preservation” of the car, so that Mike and his family can enjoy the car for the first time in over 50 years! It's a great Muscle Car Of The Week! 1960 Ford Starliners are cool cars, especially when equipped with the 352 High Performance engine, or “Hi-Po” for short. These boasted 11.6:1 compression, free-flowing cast iron header type manifolds, special pulleys, aluminum intake, dual point distributor, and more performance goodies to be one of the quickest cars you could buy in 1960. They cranked out 360 horsepower and 380 ft. lbs. of torque, and channeled it through a 3-speed manual transmission with electrically activated overdrive. The styling is pure space-age, with long, flowing “wings”, and the slippery sloped rear glass for improved aerodynamics… mostly in NASCAR! Mike and his family are excited to hear drive this special car once again. We were happy to have the opportunity to chat with him and Dan about it at the 2021 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show in Rosemont, IL.
